Sponsoring A Child

Moved by compassion….

Williams and Peruth Beshiisha, a pastor and his wife from Uganda, East Africa, built an addition on their property that will serve as a home for children whose parents have passed away or who have been abandoned.  The number of orphans in Uganda is staggering, and the orphans far outnumber the facilities to house them.  God showed the Beshiishas how to obey the Biblical command to care for orphans by adding a place of refuge and love for these young ones in need.  As Americans, we too can care for these precious children.

In February of 2009, the first children moved into the Beshiisha home and later into Grace Children’s Home Uganda.  These children were once without Chrsit,  without a family, and without a future.  God used the Beshiishas to be a part of the rescue plan for these special children.  When American families decide to sponsor a child in Uganda, He uses us, too.  Every whild sho lives at Grace Children’s Home and attends school will need a sponsor in order to be fed, clothed, and educated.

In Uganda, unlike in the United States, there is no free public education.  The only children who go to school are the ones whose paretns can pay for it or the ones who have American sponsors.  Children in Uganda view going to school as a privilege.  Thirty dollars per month can pay for a child’s school fees in Uganda and make a way for these children, who were once without hope for a future, to thrive as adults.

Caring for a group of young children is a full-time responsibility.  For a child to live at Grace Children’s Home Uganda and be fed, clothed, and healthy, the cost  is fifty dollars per month.  In the Beshiishas, these children have been welcomed into a loving family and are no longer on their own.  They are free from a life that often meant picking through trash in order to feed themselves adn their younger siblings or being responsible for smaller children at as young as six years old.

Children in Uganda are praying for sponsors.  Knowing that someone as far away as the United States loves them enough to sponsor them is life-changing for a child who, until now, has not known family.  We can forever impact a child’s life by becoming a sponsor and financing his or her education and daily expenses, and we can make it possible for the Beshiishas to reach more children with the Gospel and the love of a family.  Thirty dollars per month is enough to cover a child’s education; fifty dollars per month will cover a child’s living expenses; and an eighty dollar contribution every month will completely support a child in Uganda.  Please consider sponsoring a child at Grace Children’s Home.

Pictures and biographies of Children needing sponsored are available on the Project A 1:8 blot.  Checks can be sent to A 1:8 orphanage contribution, with the name of the child you are supporting at Project A 1:8, Church of the Heartland, 705 E. Jefferson St., Plymouth, IN 46563.
